MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin’s grandson passed away over the weekend, according to the Champaign County Coroner’s Office.

Jayce Griffin was found unresponsive on Saturday by his dad. They were in Champaign, Ill., that day. He was taken to the Carle Foundation Hospital Emergency Department in Urbana, Ill., where he was later pronounced dead, according to the coroner.

Jayce Griffin was 2-years-old.

The coroner’s office and the Milwaukee Bucks confirmed his death on Monday.

“My grandson Jayce was very special to me and my family and his passing is an agonizing tragedy that will be felt forever. I appreciate your respecting our family’s grief and privacy at this time,” Adrian Griffin said.

The coroner’s report said there was no evidence of foul play or trauma.

“At this time, the death of Jayce Griffin appears to be from natural causes pending additional testing and final autopsy results,” the report said.

The coroner’s office said the death is under investigation by the e Champaign Police Department and the Champaign County Coroner’s Office. Since his death is being investigated, no additional details have been released.
