WISCONSIN — Wisconsin reached a record-high job count in June, according to the Department of Workforce Development.

In June 2023, Wisconsin had 3,006,900 non-farm jobs, according to DWD. That’s 52,900 more jobs than the state had in June 2022, and 6,900 more than it had in May 2023.

Last month, the labor force grew by 14,000 people; employment increased by 10,700 during June.

Wisconsin’s total labor force participation rose to 65.3% in June 2023.

Wisconsin’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for June 2023 was 2.5%, according to early estimates. Wisconsin hit a record low unemployment rate of 2.4% in both April and May 2023.

“Wisconsin’s labor market economy had a record-breaking June in terms of total jobs, and the labor force gained 14,000 workers over the month,” said DWD Secretary-designee Amy Pechacek. “Wisconsin’s labor force participation rate continued to outpace the nation’s rate, as well. Wisconsin workers are motivated and encouraged by the opportunities that are available, and the Department of Workforce Development remains committed to help all workers gain the skills and supports necessary to thrive in the modern economy.”

In June, another 3,300 people became unemployed during the month. Still, there are 14,300 less people who are unemployed when looking at year-to-date numbers — a total of 76,700 unemployed Wisconsinites as of last month.

The number of employed people grew by 10,700 during June, bringing the total of employed Wisconsinites up to 3,037,000.
