MILWAUKEE — You can hear the rumblings from motorcycles almost everywhere you go throughout the greater Milwaukee area. That’s because thousands are visiting to celebrate 120 years of Harley Davidson.

Jason Robert traveled from Chandler, Ariz. for the event. Robert said he couldn’t miss the celebration because he’s a big fan.

“I’ve got Harley tattoos all over me,” said Robert.

To kick off the weekend, he participated in the Veterans Charity Ride with proceeds going to the Fisher House Foundation, which builds homes for military and veteran families to stay free of charge while a loved one is in the hospital.

“I’m a veteran of 22 years and any veteran related ride means a lot to me to help out my fellow brothers and sisters,” he said.

Robert is hoping to visit the Harley Davidson Museum sometime this weekend.

It’s a bucket list item for enthusiasts and something Mark and Tommie Terry were able to check off.

“It’s been a dream to come to the museum,” said Mark Terry. “We’ve been wanting to do that for quite a few years. It’s everything we expected.”

The Terry’s traveled on their Harley from North Carolina and are excited for a weekend dedicated to their shared passion with other riders.

“It’s the freedom,” Mark Terry said. “The camaraderie. It’s really you’re just a family. If you look around here, there’s people from every country. You can hear the different languages. There’s such a passion for not only motorcycling but the history of the product.”

Robert agrees and has noticed that already.

“Just meeting new people,” he said. “Being in a Harley owners group a H.O.G. chapter member. Getting the patches and pins and meeting other people from hog chapters.”
