GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Green Bay Packers are holding their mandatory minicamp this week in Green Bay. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said there are a few excused absences for personal reasons, but otherwise “perfect attendance.”
Cornerback Jaire Alexander was there after skipping the voluntary Organized Team Activities. Alexander said he doesn’t get the rebuilding mood in Green Bay.
“The vibe’s cool. It’s a lot of energy flowing,” said Alexander. “I feel like we moved past a lot of things, I guess, that people were saying. The vibe I got was everyone was happy to be here, and happy to see me. No one has ego here. There’s no ego. I want to see the best for the team.”
Alexander may not have been at the OTA’s, but he kept up to date.
“Yeah, I watch all our film,” said Alexander. “I watch all our practices. I just want to stay here. Stay ahead. For me, I know what works for me. I’m on year six, two Pro Bowls, two All-Pros. I think I know what I got going on here.”
Alexander said he likes spending time in Green Bay in the offseason.
“I like to be here,” said Alexander. “I feel like I get the best work when no one’s here. It’s quiet. I can go in Lambeau all day. It is so quiet, it’s like you have no choice but to find peace, especially inside the building. Lambeau is open all day. Go out there, meditate, run some stadiums. That’s all.”
Alexander didn’t want to talk much about the Packers defense last season.
“The biggest thing with defense is, you probably want to become the new offense, so we just plan to score more.”
The Packers minicamp includes another practice Wednesday and then a private team function on Thursday.
