MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee is celebrating Fourth of July with a bang.
Milwaukee County Parks will host a 30-minute fireworks show on July 3 on the lakefront. Fireworks are expected to start at about 9:30 p.m.
Milwaukee County Parks said spectators can head to Veteran’s Park for the best view of the display.
“We are excited to see the fireworks bring the community into parks again this year. We hope this opportunity inspires residents to visit their parks and enjoy year-round events and programming,” said Rebecca Stoner, executive director of Milwaukee Parks Foundation.
Parking on the lakefront will open to the public at 6 a.m. on July 3. Drivers will need to bring cash to pay to park. Parking is on a first come, first served basis and lots can be accessed from Lincoln Memorial Dr.
There will be no overnight parking; once the fireworks end, vehicles must vacate the parking spots.
Guy Smith, the executive director of Milwaukee County Parks, said the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, the United States Coast Guard and City of Milwaukee will have officials on site to ensure everyone’s safety.
“Our Parks System is a hidden gem that we’re lucky to have to have in Milwaukee County and I look forward to seeing families throughout the county, and visitors from all over the region, fill Veterans Park to take part in this annual summer celebration,” said County Executive David Crowley.
Volunteers are needed to help clean the lakefront before and after the July 3 fireworks display. Find volunteer information, here.
