MILWAUKEE — As Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer, Wisconsinites know the drill from now through the fall: Midwestern travelers flood into the state on Fridays before attempting to navigate traffic home on Sundays.

"Everyone loves summer in Wisconsin, right?!" Wisconsin Department of Tourism Secretary Anne Sayers said. "We have so many ways to express what's great about our state in the summer from outdoor dining opportunities to endless outdoor recreation opportunities, agritourism, experiential travel and so much more..."

In addition to the countless communities, hotels, lakes, rivers and other waterways travelers will visit across Wisconsin in the months ahead, Secretary Sayers said well-known Wisconsin events are often in the tourism spotlight.

"One thing that really comes out in the summer is our celebratory nature and we do that through festivals," Secretary Sayers said. "We have a festival for literally everything!"
