WAUKESHA, Wis. — An 11-week-old puppy named Daffodil needs life-saving surgery, and the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County is hoping the community will help her get through this ruff patch.
Daffodil, a mixed-breed puppy, was transferred to HAWS from Texas via a routine transport flight. She was diagnosed with severe pulmonic stenosis, which means one of the valves that connects her heart to her lungs does not open completely. This keeps her heart from properly functioning.
Daffodil needs specialized surgery. Without it, her estimated lifespan is less than one year.
She is on the schedule for heart surgery on Wednesday, May 31, but because the surgery is so specialized, she needs to travel to Minnesota to get it. It’s estimated to cost $7,000.
HAWS is hoping to raise money throughout the month of May to cover the surgery, Daffodil’s day-today care, transportation and veterinary bills.
Donations can be made on HAWS’ website and Facebook page.
