MILWAUKEE — For nearly 80 years now, Wisconsin's Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has selected someone to serve in the role of Alice in Dairyland, an ambassador of sorts to all-things-agriculture across Wisconsin, and after this weekend's final competition in Walworth County, we now know that the 76th Alice in Dairyland will be Poynette, Wisconsin native, Ashley Hagenow.
"Our state's agriculture industry is so unique, and like I said, I'm so excited to represent Wisconsin agriculture in the next year," Hagenow said.
Hagenow will move into her new role in July, giving her several weeks to prepare for one of Wisconsin's most unique jobs.
"The next few weeks for me [involve] continuing to study up on Wisconsin agricultural facts, working on a few articles and different assignments to help me step into the role as Wisconsin's 76th Alice in Dairyland," Hagenow said, "and all along the way, just enjoying some time with friends, family and hopefully getting outside in the next few weeks before I officially begin on July 5th."
