BARRON COUNTY, Wis. — Two officers in Barron County lost their lives in the line of duty Saturday afternoon, according to the Wisconsin Department of Justice.

At approximately 3:38 p.m., an officer from Chetek Police Department conducted a traffic stop, according to the DOJ. During the traffic stop, gunfire was exchanged. One Chetek police officer and one Cameron police officer were pronounced deceased at the scene. The suspect in the shooting was taken to a hospital and later died, the justice department said.
