WISCONSIN — Whether it was the issue of abortion or the impact of a staggering $45 million spent on the race itself, roughly 39% of Wisconsinites turned out to vote in Tuesday's Spring Election.

"There was incredible enthusiasm in this race," said J.R. Ross, editor at WisPolitics.com. "In the last 23 years, this was the highest turnout for a Wisconsin State Supreme Court race, other than in 2016 when there were presidential primaries for both Democrats and Republicans at the same time."

Ross said, for the most part, certain trends in recent election cycles continued to play out in various counties and communities across the Badger State on Tuesday.

"We're seeing the same pattern over and over and over in Wisconsin," Ross said. "Dane County is a powerhouse for Democrats [and] liberals. Milwaukee County isn't turning out the same numbers as before, but there's a huge gap between Democrats and Republicans, and your "WOW" counties— Waukesha, Washington and Ozaukee— they're not turning out the numbers that Republicans need."
