SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — A Wisconsin woman known for her love of travel is putting her top 100 things to do and see in Wisconsin in a book.
The Traveling Cheesehead, Dannelle Gay, knows a thing or two about the best spots you must see.
“Oh my gosh, I get paid to travel,” Gay said. “What could be better than that?”
Gay grew up in Wisconsin. For over 10 years, she has been sharing about all things travel as a host, author, travel blogger and podcaster.
She has now written a book bringing together the things you must see and do in Wisconsin.
“With 191 business in there, if you took holidays off, and opened it each week and picked a spot you have like four years’ worth of adventures in there,” she said. “Right in our own backyard helping to strengthen our own communities and the families that live right here.”
The book is titled “100 Things to Do in Wisconsin Before You Die.” As you might have already guessed, it details over 100 things Wisconsin has to offer.
For her job, Gay gets to hit the road, check these things out, and share her experiences. So, putting this book together felt natural for her.
“Travel can be fun and educational,” Gay said.
Her hope is to share the beauty of the Badger State, while providing resources about things for families to enjoy. But the book also takes on a bigger meaning for Gay. The book allows her to give back.
“I’m using it to help the nonprofit tourism, donate to veterans, help food pantries, help public libraries, so the best part for me is when I know this book is in someones hands is I know they are going to have fun adventures, but I am also able to help other groups,” Gay said.
She is able to use her knowledge to provide fun for families and give back to a handful of different communities across the state.
Gay will tour across Wisconsin once the book is released.
