But his best medicine doesn’t come in pill form — it comes when he trades in his white coat for a camera.

“I love shooting cityscapes,” said Vomhof. “Cities are my muse, I guess.”

His passion began when he was in his last rotation of pharmacy school, which took place on the Navajo Reservation.

“I was taking photos on my iPhone,” said Vomhof. “I wanted something that captured better quality and having a DSLR mirror-less camera is going to shoot a better quality than an iPhone, especially back then.”

A year later, his passion would soar to new heights. Vomhof is now capturing the beauty of Milwaukee from up above using a drone.

“I always look for a good sunset,” said Vomhof. “I try to find new perspectives that I haven’t seen before.”

Little did Vomhof know, his hobby would land him on the cover of a magazine. It has also grown his Instagram following to nearly 20,000.

“What I expect to get from it I really don’t know,” said Vomhof. “I’m just having fun taking photos.”

Throughout this adventure, Vomhof began advocating for Milwaukee whether it’s adding new buildings to the skyline or bringing in tourists.

“Somebody said if your city isn’t growing it’s dying and it’s kind of true,” said Vomhof.

It’s easy to see what comes out of Vomhof’s camera, a love for Milwaukee. It’s something he wants everyone to have.

“It’s fun to see people kind of learn to have respect for their own city but you also get people from the outside that are like wow I’ve never seen Milwaukee like that,” said Vomhof. “I never knew Milwaukee was that place.”

While there’s no plans to hang up his white coat anytime soon to pursue his hobby full time, he’ll continue to help his community. Both as a pharmacist and snapping shots for the world to see how special Milwaukee is.
