MILWAUKEE — Super Bowl LVII is Sunday in Arizona, with the NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles against the AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs. The Eagles are a slight favorite. The Chiefs are in the Super Bowl for the third time in four years.

Super Bowl history will be made. It’s the first time that both teams will start Black quarterbacks. Here are three things to watch in the game.

MVP Mahomes

Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who won his second NFL MVP award Thursday night, is starting his third Super Bowl in his first six seasons in the NFL. Only Tom Brady can match that. Just 27 years old, Mahomes has a ways to go to match Brady’s seven Super Bowl wins in 10 appearances. When Mahomes wants to throw deep, one of his targets is former Packers receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Fly Eagles Fly

Philadelphia was the class of the NFC all season. The Eagles started 8-0 and the value of quarterback Jalen Hurts was never more clear than when he missed two games late in the regular season with a shoulder injury.

The Eagles lost both games. Philadelphia’s defense is also stout. They led the NFL with 70 sacks.

Coaches subplot

Chiefs head coach (and former Packers assistant) Andy Reid spent 14 seasons as Philadelphia’s coach. Reid took over in Kansas City in 2013. One of the Chiefs assistants he let go when he arrived was receivers coach Nick Sirianni, now the head coach of the Eagles.

Hall of Fame Coach Dick Vermeil coached both the Eagles and Chiefs. No surprise, he’s not picking a winner.
