WAUKESHA, Wis. — A small plane went off the runway at the Waukesha County Airport after making a hard landing Wednesday morning, officials said.

The Cirrus Vision Jet's nose hit the runway first, and then proceeded to slow down to the side. Two people were on board — a pilot and a passenger, but neither were injured, according to Lt. Nicholas Wenzel of the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office. The incident happened around 9:57 a.m.

Wenzel said the airport is open and operating as normal, and the airport is working with local emergency personnel, the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board. Wenzel said the NTSB will release the official cause of the hard landing "at a later date."

The plane was coming from Chattanooga, Tenn., as confirmed by the plane number on the side of the aircraft that was registered.
