MILWAUKEE — According to the American Heart Association, cardiac events are on the rise in young women, with nearly 45% of women older than 20 living with some form of cardiovascular disease

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for women, but there steps to limit risks for heart problems. 

Dr. Ben Weston, associate professor with the Medical College of Wisconsin, joined anchor Ryan Burk to talk about what women can do to avoid heart problems in the 20s.

Weston also addresses why women are particularly vulnerable, how changes to diet and exercise routines can reduce the risk for a heart attack and heart disease risk factors for men.
