MILWAUKEE — The online application period for Wisconsin’s open enrollment program in public school districts statewide started Monday, giving parents across the state more options when it comes to their children’s education.
“It is open to any public school district that you wish your child to attend,” said Mike Bormett, the parental education options assistant director with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. “In that way, the State of Wisconsin gives parents a lot of flexibility to choose a different public school district for whatever reason that they may have.”
For parents with questions about the application process or those looking for more information on open enrollment itself, the DPI also has open enrollment counselors available at (888) 245-2732 or by emailing openenrollment@dpi.wi.gov.
“[It’s] really a parental choice — it’s an option to go to another school district that you think best serves the needs of your family and your children,” Bormett said.
The application process runs through April 28, 2023.
