MILWAUKEE — Potawatomi Casino Hotel’s permanent sportsbook will soon take a step toward becoming a reality.

Potawatomi representatives on Monday announced construction is beginning to build a full sportsbook venue, which will replace the Northern Lights Theater and the Fire Pit Sports Bar & Grill.

“This is a transformational time at Potawatomi Casino Hotel,” said Dominic Ortiz, Potawatomi Casinos and Hotels’ CEO. “For more than three decades, we have served as a leader in Tribal gaming. With the addition of sports betting, we’ll be providing our guests with even more options and welcoming new visitors to the property and the Menomonee Valley.”

With 17 kiosks and open 24 hours a day, there will be two spots that people can place their bets during the construction process and in the coming weeks, representatives said.

The former Fire Pit Sports Bar & Grill will be one of those locations. At this location, guests can enjoy a full bar, eight high-definitions TVs and one larger LED screen to take in the biggest games. On the property’s second level, guests will find kiosks just off of the skywalk.

Representatives said there will be odds boards at both betting locations. For those wanting to place a bet, the venue will also provide 20-minute dedicated parking spots in the structure.

Officials reminded guests that all their bets must be placed on site.

The sportsbook isn’t the only improvement to the casino. It’s also undergoing a $100 million renovation to the second level, which is expected to be completed during the summer or fall of 2023. The new modern space will allow for new gaming, an exclusive high-limit room, a new restaurant — known as Rock & Brews — founded by Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS, and more.

Several other casinos in Wisconsin have sportbooks, including the Oneida Casino in the Green Bay area and the St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake.
