MILWAUKEE — A Wisconsin high school graduate won big at the 80th Golden Globe Awards Tuesday night.

Musician and composer Justin Hurwitz won his fourth Golden Globe for Best Original Score for “Babylon,” directed by Damien Chazelle and starring Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie. The win continues his perfect track record, having won for all of his previous nominations as well.

Hurwitz, 37, went to Nicolet High School in Glendale, Wis. He graduated in 2003 before attending Harvard University.

“[…] Through middle school, through high school, we had music classes,” Hurwitz said in his Golden Globes post-show press room interview. “And that was a big part of why I do music.”

Hurwitz was born in California in 1985 and moved to Wisconsin in 1998, according to Rotten Tomatoes.

He was up against Carter Burwell for “The Banshees of Inisherin,” Alexandre Desplat for “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio,” Hildur Guðnadóttir for “Women Talking” and John Williams for “The Fabelmans.”

The musician also won Best Original Score for “La La Land” and “First Man,” both films also directed by Chazelle, as well as Best Original Song for “La La Land.” He additionally has two Academy Awards for his work on “La La Land.”
