WEST ALLIS, Wis. — The frigid temperatures combined with snow and high winds kept tow truck companies in the Milwaukee area busy.

Speedy Peedy Towing and Recovery in West Allis responded to more than 40 calls within 8 hours on Friday in southeastern Wisconsin. They helped with towing, jumpstarting cars, winching out vehicles and accident emergency calls.

Jeff Blaha is one of the tow truck drivers that responded to calls.

Blaha said within the last two days he has jumpstarted cars and towed other vehicles that crashed because of snow and high winds.

“That made the job, I guess you would say, a little bit on the rough side, but it’s something that we have to do in order to make sure that people are happy and we can get them taken care of as quickly and as safely as possible,” said Blaha.

The tow truck driver with 30 years of experience also said that even in these extremely cold conditions, there is nothing else he would rather be doing.

“It’s just about being out here doing my job and trying to have fun. I don’t really count how many calls. You just try to keep going from one call to the other to do the best you can,” said Blaha.

Blaha also pointed out that it’s important that motorists move to the side for tow truck vehicles when they are flashing their lights so they can respond to calls as quickly as possible.
