MILWAUKEE — The 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee will be held from July 15-18, the Republican National Committee announced on Wednesday.

“The location is set, the dates are booked, and now the work of pulling off the biggest event in politics is underway,” said Milwaukee 2024 Host Committee Chair Reince Priebus in a statement.

Milwaukee was chosen as the location of the 2024 RNC back in August.

“We are thrilled to welcome the 2024 Republican National Convention to Milwaukee. Our city is ready to show the world we are open for business, conventions, and tourism,” said Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson in a statement. “The presidential nomination convention is a historical opportunity to present what a phenomenal place Milwaukee truly is.”

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said they’re looking forward to working with Milwaukee to make the week a success.

“Republicans will stand united in Milwaukee in 2024 to share our message of freedom and opportunity with the world," McDaniel added the statement.

Back in 2020, Milwaukee was set to host the Democratic National Convention, but then COVID-19 hit. That forced the convention online.

Milwaukee submitted its bid to host the latest RNC in December of last year; the city was recommended by the RNC Site Selection Committee in July.

Then, Nashville revived its push to host, but their Metro Council voted to drop the convention agreement.

Shortly after, the RNC announced they had selected Milwaukee as their 2024 convention destination.

The convention is expected to bring large economic gains to the city — they’re hoping for a nearly $200 million impact.
