MILWAUKEE — From Amtrak canceling train service to airlines offering travel waivers for booked passengers on certain flights, everyone’s wondering just how disruptive this week’s winter weather could be as millions prepare to travel for Hanukkah and Christmas.
“The phones are ringing and people are curious,” Rose Gray, a certified travel counselor and business relationship director with Fox World Travel in Oshkosh, told Spectrum News 1. “We’re at that spot in the process right now where we’re just in a wait and see mode.”
For Wisconsinites set to travel by air over the next few days, Gray said airline and airport workers will do what they can to help passengers if their flight is delayed or canceled.
But at the end of the day, especially with so many people booked to travel, Gray said there’s only so much they can do.
“They will try to help you, but their responsibility is somewhat limited,” Gray added. “This is why you want to make sure you’ve packed the essentials: make sure you’ve got extra food; make sure you’ve got chargers; make sure you’ve got devices, especially if you’re traveling with children.”
But Gray’s overall advice for travelers?
“Pack your patience pants,” Gray said.
