KAUKAUNA, Wis. — A nonprofit organization has changed the lives of a fallen Wisconsin veteran and police officer’s family.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has fully paid the mortgage on the Kaukauna, Wis. home of U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Dominic Hall.
Foundation Chairman and CEO Frank Siller recently presented Hall’s wife, Jacole Hall, with a mortgage payoff notice last night on stage at the Fox Nation Patriot Awards held at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Fla.
Hall passed away after a 16-month battle with cancer on Sept. 4.
Hall joined the U.S. Marine Corps after graduating from high school in 2008. He served for four years before leaving active duty to serve in the Ohio National Guard. He then joined the Appleton Police Department, where he was a sworn officer and SWAT team member. He worked with the APD for five years.
He and his wife had two children.
“We are here to celebrate everyday Americans who do amazing things, and there is nothing more amazing than volunteering to serve our country or community,” Siller said. “I am honored to announce that Tunnel to Towers, with the support of Americans across this great country, will now be taking care of your family the way your husband took care of us.”
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s Gold Star Family Home Program honors those who passed away while serving the country by providing mortgage payoffs or mortgage-free homes to the families they leave behind. The organization has a goal to reach 1,000 mortgage-free homes to U.S. military and first responders by the end of 2022.
