WISCONSIN — Democrats suprised Republicans in the battleground state, outperforming expectations in the Nov. 8 midterm elections.

Democratic incumbent Gov. Tony Evers defeated Republican challenger Tim Michels for a second term as governor.

But there were still significant gains for Republicans.

Republican incumbent Ron Johnson kept his seat in the U.S. Senate. He beat Democratic challenger Mandela Barns in the race.

Republican Derrick Van Orden also flipped Wisconsin's congressional seat to the GOP, defeating Democrat Brad Pfaff. He'll replace 13-term congressman Ron Kind in the U.S. House 3rd District.

Despite predictions that this election would see a record voter turnout, numbers showed that it was lower than in 2018.
