MILWAUKEE — A Boston-based tech company is making a second home in Milwaukee.
Earlier this year Formlabs opened an office in the city’s Third Ward.
And over the next year, they need to hire around 80 people to keep it up and running.
Formlabs designs 3D printers that are sold to all different facets of the industry. Now, they are looking to hire for a variety of roles, ranging from sales to customer service.
Brian Nies is head of sales for Formlabs. He said many of the roles they are looking to fill don’t directly need tech or printing experience.
“Heavily sales and service-type positions,” said Nies. “Then, there is the service aspect, pre-sales, to supporting the customers once they have the products. That could be troubleshooting or learning how to use them better.”
Dominique Ward recently joined the Formlabs Services Team, helping customers with ordering and support. While Ward said she knew little about 3D printing before starting, she has learned a lot about the industry since taking on the position.
Ward said she’s learned how to use the printing machines in her spare time.
“That was the first thing that attracted me to it. I like to take on things that are a little bit more challenging. That is what attracted me to work at Formlabs,” said Ward.
