LAKE GENEVA, Wis. — You can walk through a winter wonderland once again in Lake Geneva, Wis.
Ice Castles will return to Geneva National Resort on Saturday, Feb. 4 this year. In the past, Ice Castles has opened in mid- to late-January, running for about four weeks.
About 20 ice artisans will started creating Ice Castles in November. Ice artisans grow, harvest and then hand-place icicles one by one to create Ice Castles. Color changing LED lights are worked into the designs, so the ice lights up at night. Visitors can expect new lighting features this season.
Ice Castles features slides, caverns, tunnels, crawl spaces and sculptures — all made from ice, of course. The winter, the frozen attraction will also have a horse-drawn sleigh ride trail. Ice Castles will host “whimsical winter characters” who will meet and greet guests of all ages.
“Winter is such a magical time of year,” said Ice Castles CEO Kyle Standifird. “We’re honored to be celebrating our fifth year in Lake Geneva and have some fun new discoveries and surprises in store for our guests.”
It’s the fifth year, and one of five locations, for Ice Castles. The award-winning event also makes rounds in Utah, Minnesota, New Hampshire and New York.
