MILWAUKEE — First Lady Jill Biden will travel to Milwaukee on Wednesday, Oct. 12 to speak with the Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association (MTEA) of the National Education Association (NEA), according to a statement from The White House.
She'll address them at 5 p.m. at the Washington Park Senior Center in Milwaukee.
Afterwards, she'll visit with students, parents and educators at a Milwaukee Public Schools’ “Homework Diner” at Westside Academy.
Glenn Carson, a community school coordinator for Milwaukee’s Hopkins Lloyd Community School, created the homework event.
“The Homework Diner is a place where parents and students can come to meet with teachers and get help with homework,” said Carson in a story for United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County.
At “Homework Diners” — which happen every other Wednesday during the school year — students can have conversations with teachers, spend time with their family and eat a meal.
