WAUKESHA, Wis. — A jury has been seated in the trial against Waukesha parade suspect Darrell Brooks Jr.

The jury will consist of 10 males and 6 females. All of the jurors selected are white.

Jury selection continued Tuesday with Brooks again watching the proceedings from an adjacent courtroom where he had access to audio and video.

Similarly to Monday, Waukesha County Circuit Judge Jennifer Dorow quickly removed Brooks from the court after he spoke over the judge multiple times. While in the courtroom next door, Brooks was animated for most of the day, often appearing to talk and read the bible, although his was kept muted for most of the day.

Jury selection started with a pool of more than 300 jurors; that was whittled down to 36. Then, both sides were allowed 10 strikes on the way to seating a jury of 12 plus 4 alternates.

Dorow said jury instruction will begin Thursday morning, followed by opening statements. Four weeks have been set aside for the trial, according to the court calendar.

Brooks faces 77 charges for allegedly killing six people and injuring more than 60 others after driving his SUV through the Waukesha Christmas parade in Nov. 2021.
