GREEN BAY, Wis. — Green Bay Area Public School District’s interim superintendent had a heart attack Monday night, school officials confirmed.

Vicki Bayer is recovering under the care of her doctors, a school district spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said Bayer was not feeling well during a Monday night school board meeting. The paramedics were called and decided to take Bayer to the hospital for further evaluation and care. However, the spokesperson said they could not confirm if Bayer had a heart attack during the board meeting.

The rest of Monday's meeting was canceled.

The school district confirmed Interim Deputy Superintendent Judy Wiegand will oversee day-to-day school district operations while Bayer recovers, with the help of other administrative leaders.

A spokesperson said the school district will not provide additional information at this time.
