MILWAUKEE — A ribbon cutting is scheduled Aug. 17 at a new, permanent exhibit at the War Memorial Center in Milwaukee that will honor the 64 Medal of Honor recipients with ties to Wisconsin.

Gina Marx, the memorial’s Community Engagement Director, said the exhibit will contain stone tiles with the name of each recipient.

“It will tell a bit about their story, their name, their highest rank, and what their level of high action was in order for them to receive the medal,” Marx said.

She said the exhibit will also contain interactive kiosks.

“It’s actually Wisconsin’s first and only Medal of Honor exhibit,” Marx added.

Marx said the exhibit, like the War Memorial Center’s other operations, is funded entirely by private donations.

“There are so many people that have helped in funding this, to get it where it is today,” Marx said.
