MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee band organized "A Parade For Creative Dissent" to continue the fight for reproductive freedom after the Supreme Court overturned Roe V. Wade over the weekend.

Steph Lippert is a member of the band “Ruth B8r Ginsberg.” As Lippert marched, she said she is still coming to terms with the Supreme Court decision.

“It’s incredulous that this would even be something that we are dealing with right now," Lippert said. "This just kind of seems so crazy so I’m kind still in shock, honestly."

This parade went to the Cactus Club and there was a concert that served as a fundraiser for the Wisconsin Women’s Medical Fund.

“Just because that happened yesterday, it doesn’t mean that we can’t continue to collect the masses, gain the funds and spread them where they need to go for people so that they can get access,” Lippert said. “Not just to abortions, there’s a lot of other services but still we want to make sure that we are taking care of our community members and that doesn’t stop just because roe vs wade got overturned.”

Josh Bryan also wanted to show his support for abortion rights.

“It really isn’t just women. It affects everyone,” Lippert said. “We all have friends who are women and that should be enough for us to step up.”

Lippert pointed out the goal was to inspire people through music not to give up.

“Our music is about justice. It’s about freedom,” she said. “It’s about a number of different things, so you can hear that in our songs we sing.”

For Lippert and those rallying with her, they believe this as an opportunity to band together to protect reproductive freedoms.
