WAUWATOSA, Wis.— A Wauwatosa mom is excited to hear that her kids are one step closer to being eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine.

Following Friday morning’s announcement of an FDA approval of the COVID-19 vaccine for kids under six, a local family is looking forward to the possibility of getting their kids vaccinated.

Casey White is a mom of two young boys — one is almost three and the other is almost one. Her three-year-old loves playing with his toy lawn care tools and has a grip on how to maintain safety and protection while playing with his toys. You can catch him wearing his ear protection to keep his ears safe.

White said she hopes she can translate that same idea of protection when it comes to getting the COVID-19 vaccine.

“These past two years have definitely have been the most stressful years of my life no doubt,” White said.

However, now with the potential to have kids under six-years-old eligible for a vaccine, she’s breathing a sigh of relief for her kids.

“I feel like a thousand pound elephant has been lifted off my chest. We have waited so long, and I keep saying, as soon as my kids get vaccinated we can travel to see family,” White said.

While she’s looking forward to getting her kids signed up as soon as possible, she wishes this would have happened sooner. White said she believes it could have potentially even prevented her family from getting COVID-19.

“I’m thrilled it’s changing now, but it feels like the strains out there aren’t as strong now and the danger isn’t as urgent,” White said.

However, after making sacrifices for the past two years to keep her kids safe, she’s ready for them to travel and see family and enjoy life just a little bit more.

White noted she’s looking forward to the possibility of more freedom with added protection for her kids.
