MILWAUKEE— In the wake of the weekend's shootings in downtown Milwaukee, victimizing 21 people, nearly a dozen people are facing charges. One Milwaukee resident said enough's enough, and he wants to the city to take bold action through the summer to turn things around.

"If you're doing something you've been doing for a long time and you're still not getting the results you want, that's either insanity or you need to start thinking in new ways or creative ways to find solutions," Tyrone Dumas, a consultant with Milwaukee Public Schools, said.

In his letter to city leaders, Dumas called for martial law through Labor Day weekend unless people 18 and older are "going to work, school [or] church" late at night or early in the morning, as well as stricter time limits on liquor and gun stores. He said anyone 17 and younger who violates the curfew should be arrested and held overnight.

Dumas admitted he hasn't heard back from many city leaders, but his goal is to at least get people to have a conversation about alternative ways to address crime going forward.

"My solutions are just the results of my experiences and trying to figure out how to think outside the box," Dumas added. "I'm just trying to get the attention of folks to just look at them."
