MILWAUKEE — As a long-standing and emotional debate over abortion in America raged on, all brought on by Monday night's leaked draft opinion from the Supreme Court, others focused on the leak itself and its potential impact on the future of Roe vs. Wade.
"This is extremely unusual for the Supreme Court which has built a reputation over decades as being one of the few places in Washington that doesn't leak," Dr. Paul Nolette, the chair of Marquette University's Department of Political Science, told Spectrum News 1 on Tuesday.
Dr. Nolette added that the draft opinion is not final, and it will be fascinating to see whether the final decision changes, in part, thanks to any public pressure brought on by the leak itself.
"Is it possible that justices may change their mind between the initial conference when they announce their initial vote and when a final opinion's released? Yes, absolutely," Dr. Nolette added. "There's some evidence that that has happened in the past and may be on track to happen this time."
