WHITEFISH BAY, Wis. — One of the most important holidays of the year for Wisconsin’s Jewish community is drawing near.

Passover begins on Friday, and the Passover Seder meal is a key part of observing.

One Kosher catering company is working overtime to get “to-go” Passover meals ready.

Hannah’s Kitchen in Whitefish Bay is preparing Passover meals for about 70 families this year. It is a service they being offering at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chef Hannah Sattler said it was created to be a service to the community.

“We saw these families that weren’t getting together,” explained Sattler. “Maybe mom or grandma or aunts had been the ones cooking and they were in charge of everything and everyone was overwhelmed, so we were doing what they were even with the world being a little different.”

Passover meals need to be pre-ordered because preparation takes several days.

Despite many more families being able to gather together this Passover, Sattler said demand for the “to-go” meals have remained very strong.
