MILWAUKEE— Even as Politico reports that Milwaukee's the favorite to land the 2024 Republican National Convention and the more than $200 million in likely economic impact that would come along with it, those behind the scenes Friday are still forced to wait and wonder.

"We don't have a timeline right now," Claire Koenig, communications director for Visit Milwaukee, said. "We're waiting like everyone else, but we feel really proud for how this week went."

Koenig accompanied the delegation on Thursday to visit convention and event spaces around the city, and said that potentially landing the 2024 Republican National Convention might not have been possible had the city not successfully pulled things together for what was a winning 2020 Democratic National Convention bid several years ago.

"I think it would be hard to underemphasize how important that has been," Koenig added. "Mainly because we have the plans in place— I think I saw yesterday that someone called Milwaukee 'out-of-the-box,' and that truly is the logistical scenario because we have the plans."
