MILWAUKEE — Tuesday marks 80 years since the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

Of nearly 200 military service members from Wisconsin, more than 50 were killed at Pearl Harbor, according to Kevin Hampton, the Curator of History at the Wisconsin Veterans Museum in Madison.

Hampton said, just like it did for many Americans, the Pearl Harbor bombings led many Wisconsinites to enlist in the military as the United States entered World War II.

Hampton noted recent technology has been a tremendous help in identifying the remains of soldiers killed at Pearl Harbor - some of whom were from Wisconsin.
