Daniel Rider, the owner of the ring doorbell video and witness to the arrest of Darrell Brooks, said he let Darrell Brooks inside his home after Brooks banged on his door and told Rider he was homeless.

Rider then invited him in, gave him a coat and even let him use his phone.

“Keep in mind, he had my phone the whole time," said Rider. "So, my shelter in place and suspect on the loose messages, I wasn't seeing them. I had no idea anything had happened."

Rider said he was unaware of the deadly parade crash that happened moments earlier and asked Brooks to leave after he saw police on his street.

"A minute later he’s pounding on the door saying, 'I left my ID in there, let me back in,'" said Rider.

Moments later, Rider witnessed police on his doorstep arresting Brooks.

Darrell Brooks had his first hearing on Tuesday where he was charged with five counts of first-degree intentional homicide.

His cash bail was set at $5 million dollars.
