KENOSHA, Wis. — Kyle Rittenhouse has been found not guilty on all five counts. Rittenhouse was acquitted of all charges after pleading self-defense in the deadly Kenosha shootings in Aug. 2020.

The 12-person jury deliberated over the course of four days, including lunch breaks, and reached a verdict in the early afternoon Friday.

As the verdict was read, Rittenhouse dropped to his knees and hit the table. He was then helped back into his chair and hugged Corey Chirafisi, one of his attorneys. 

Rittenhouse, from Illinois, was charged with killing two people and wounding a third during a police brutality protest in Kenosha, Wis., last year.

Gov. Tony Evers activated about 500 National Guard to be on standby ahead of the verdict, should Kenosha authorities request their assistance.
