MADISON, Wis. — A Madison-area top biomedical company needs hundreds of eager lab workers, but surprisingly, no experience is required.

What You Need To Know

  • A Madison based biomedical hub is not looking for skilled workers in the lab, it can train anyon interested

  • Work is focused on the company's flagship product, Cologuard, a colon cancer screening kit

  • Job perks include at least four weeks paid time off, flexibility, stock options and tuition reimbursement

Exact Sciences representatives say they can train interested individuals to work on the sample processing of their flagship Cologuard test. It’s an at-home colon cancer screening kit.

The idea of lab work was intimidating to Komlan Assignon. The West-African born immigrant had no lab skills, but took a leap of faith and gave the work a try. Now three years later, he's a Specimen Associate.

"I wasn't sure if I can do that, because we have a lot of information,” Assignon said about a career he loves with flexibility to provide for his family. “Then, when I started giving that courage to myself, I can do that.”

The success story is not uncommon at the scientific hub, but it's one the company hopes to shine more light on as it continues its fight against cancer through early screening and detection products.

"At Exact Sciences, people think it means you have to be a scientist, you have to have had certain classes or you have to have a certain degree. That is not true,” Vice President of Human Resources Sara Condell said. “We have entry level jobs that you do not need any experience with, because we can train you, we can teach you.”

Exact Sciences offers full time employees at least four weeks of paid time off — family flexibility — stock options and tuition reimbursement. You can learn more about their lab jobs and other opportunities within the company at https://careers.exactsciences.com.
