MILWAUKEE – If you have plans to see music acts like Green Day, Miley Cyrus, or Chance the Rapper at Summerfest this year, your concert experience will look a little different than years past.

On Monday, Summerfest unveiled the newly renovated American Family Insurance Amphitheater.

It comes after a three-year, $51 million renovation project. The renovation has meant a wide variety of upgrades. From a new stage to new seating, it has been a major update for the theater first constructed in 1987. In addition, common areas have been revamped, including the addition of more concession stands and restrooms.

Summerfest President Don Smiley said it is an opportunity to improve the concert-going experience.

“The first thing that comes to mind is total transformation. We are very proud of the work,” said Smiley.

Concerts at the new amphitheater will kick off July 30th when Foo Fighters take to the stage.
