SHEBOYGAN, Wis. — A recovery group in Sheboygan County is placing Narcan boxes across the area in hopes of saving lives.

Wisconsin Recovery Community Organization - The Bridge has placed five Narcan boxes across the county. Inside a nasal Narcan spray, breathing mask, and resources for those in need.

For Kathleen Werner, each day is a step forward. She’s a peer recovery coach with WIRCO the Bridge. She’s now nearly three years sober and helping others find their path to recovery.

“Had I not gone through what I went through I wouldn’t be in a place where I love what I do so much,” Werner says.

During her time as a recovery coach, she’s helped to bring others down a path of recovery.

“I ended up losing everything that I loved dearly. My friends pushed me away, my family, I lost my kids for awhile," she says. "And I worked very every hard to turn my life around because I knew that wasn’t the life for me and I knew that wasn’t what I wanted to do."

She’s helped bring Narcan boxes to the county she calls home.

“I’m very grateful to be apart of this,” Werner says.

Werner is working alongside Sue Kaiser, who is also a peer recovery coach. They have worked together to bring five Narcan boxes to locations all across the county. Inside is a nasal Narcan spray, breathing mask, and resources. They are free to anyone at anytime.

For Kaiser, it means the world.

“What more could you want to do, then to save a life, you can literally save them, they are dead and you can bring them back to life,” she says.

So as she drives around town to refill boxes, she knows the impact her and her team are making by saving lives and helping others down the road to recovery.
