KENOSHA, Wis.—  Officer Rusten Sheskey, who was placed on administrative leave after the August 2020 shooting of Jacob Blake, has returned to work, according to a Kenosha Police Department news release.

The shooting was investigated by an outside agency, reviewed internally and by an "independent expert," police confirm in the release. The Kenosha County District Attorney, Michael Graveley, also reviewed the case, but Sheskey was not charged.

Blake's attorneys filed a federal civil rights suit against him.

Officials said Sheskey acted according to the law and abiding by policy.

Kenosha Police Chief Daniel Miskinis said that Sheskey will not be disciplined.

"Although this incident has been reviewed at multiple levels, I know that some will not be pleased with the outcome; however, given the facts, the only lawful and appropriate decision was made," Miskinis said.

Sheskey returned from administrative leave on March 31, 2021, the press release states.

Spectrum News has reached out for comment from Sheskey, his attorney, Blake, his attorneys and the DA, but has not yet heard back.
