GRAND CHUTE, Wis.— One person has died following a shooting Sunday afternoon at the Fox River Mall in Grand Chute, authorities confirmed.

Grand Chute police said they are still searching for the suspect.

Authorities said the shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon in one of the corridors inside the mall.

Investigators believe the suspect left the scene before officers arrived, prompting many people to shelter in place in the mall. It took about six hours to clear all the people who had been sheltering in place from the mall property.

Investigators initially said two victims were hurt. In a media briefing around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, police announced one victim had minor injuries, and a second victim had died.

"Out of respect for the family, we will not be identifying that victim at this time. We want to offer them proper time to be notified and grieve before we release that information public," officer Travis Waas of the Grand Chute Police Department said.

Police declined to say on Sunday if the public was in any danger.

People with information are asked to call the GCPD at (920) 832-1575.
