MILWAUKEE — In these uncertain times of pandemic, unemployment and racial unrest, therapy is needed more than ever.

However, many without insurance simply cannot afford to seek therapy for mental health. Two young entrepreneurs are working with licensed counselors to change that.

Corey Fells and Darius Smith created a service called, “Black Space.” It offers free group-therapy sessions for underserved communities in and around Milwaukee.

Fells, having experienced anxiety firsthand, tried therapy for himself and saw drastic improvements. He’s hoping Black Space will be an affordable, convenient avenue for everyone to experience the same healing.

“If there is anyone that is somewhat hesitant, we welcome you with open arms,” Fells said. “A lot more people in the Black and brown communities should have access to these types of things.”

The first Black Space group session starts Saturday and is already getting national attention; with an upcoming feature on Good Morning America.

There are different sessions broken up by gender and sexuality. The therapy sessions are first come, first serve and all you need to do is simply sign up online.
