GREEN BAY, Wis.— It’s the ticket many Packers fans want.
Earlier this week the team offered up about 6,000 seats to season ticket holders. That’s people like Jeff Thielen of Marinette who scored his tickets before the game sold out in less than 30 minutes.
“It’ll obviously be interesting with such a limited number of fans,” he said. “I kind of look at it as a once in a lifetime experience.”

Just like their fans, the Packers are excited to welcome more people back into the stadium bowl.
COVID protocols are in place: Masks, social distancing, and the curtailment of tailgating.
There are some new measures, too.

Carry-in items like bags (small clutch purses are OK) will not be allowed and seat backs will be set up in the stands. Both are efforts are aimed at reducing touchpoints.
“We feel really feel good about the protocols that are in place. Over 100 games have taken place across the NFL with more than a million fans and no traceable infections have taken place,” said Aaron Popkey, the Packers’ director of public affairs
Fans who are not going say they’re pulling for those who are.

That’s people like Erik Brooks of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, who was visiting Lambeau Field Thursday.
“It’s great because it will finally provide some sort of fan atmosphere for the first time season,” he said. ”You’ve just got to hope those 8,000 can be as loud as they possibly can.”
Popkey says recent games with limited crowds have made an impact on what happens on the field.
“The players and coaches have spoken very positively about when we had the first few hundred that were in the stands,” he said. “They felt it made a difference.”
