KENOSHA, Wis. — The year 2020 has come with plenty of uncertainty and anxiety for many.

For students learning virtually, working from home rather than in a traditional classroom can come with a new set of challenges. It is the reason the Kenosha Unified School District has worked to create a resource to help manage stress and anxiety.

The KUSD Virtual Calming Room is an online platform which aggregates stress-reducing resources for students and parents. From yoga videos to guided meditation to journaling exercises, it is a compilation of resources aimed at students.

“We spent a lot of time as a team figuring out what is useful, what might not be, and wanted to do exactly that., bring it into a place where it was simple to use,” said Diana Trammell, a school counselor with Kenosha Unified School District

The district said the Virtual Calming Room has caught the attention of other school districts around the country and that some have asked for recommendations on starting similar programs.

The Virtual Calming Room is accessible to the public and can be viewed at https://sites.google.com/teachers.kusd.edu/calmingroom.
