WEST BEND, Wis.— Saturday is packed with winter weather here in Wisconsin. The West Bend community is seeing more snow than other areas over the weekend.

It’s been a blustery and snowy day in West Bend with plows making their way around town and neighbors out shoveling their driveways.

“It’s late but I love it. This is Wisconsin. I grew up in Wisconsin, lived my entire life here. This is beautiful,” West Bend resident, Dick Gerard says.

It’s those big fluffy snowflakes that everyone can enjoy. Even the pups are enjoying the snow. Gerard’s dog, an Australian Shepard was out playing in the front yard while her dad took care of the driveway.

“She was sitting down, laying down here earlier and she turned completely white after five or ten minutes,” Gerard says.

The wet slushy snow made it take a little longer to clear driveways throughout the neighborhood. Some neighbors chose to use snow blowers, while others sticking with a good old fashioned shovel.

“It’s too heavy to shovel for an older person but basically the plowed area you have to. So then I’ll get the snowblower out for lesser amounts,” West Bend resident, John Cain says.

The wet and heavy snow is perfect for packing snow to go outside and make a snowman to help get you in the holiday spirit.

“It helps put you in the Christmas spirit with everything that’s going on now. Hopefully, it will cheer up everybody and help people remember the true meaning of Christmas and get everyone's hopes up,” Gerard says.

The first big snowfall of the year, giving the people of West Bend some cheer.
