STOUGHTON, Wis. — A nearly six-decade-old Dane County manufacturer is looking for hundreds of workers to start right now.
"We work with a lot of well known clients, Amazon, Target, UPS, Dayton Freights. So, a lot of well known companies," Stoughton Trailers HR Business Partner Hannah Kunkle knows her privately held company must hire hundreds soon.
"Everyone's switching to buying things online, so you need the trailers to transport these products," she explained about the surge in demand.
Meanwhile, Stoughton Trailers Talent Business Partner Mattie Phillips says she is proud of not just what her company manufactures, but one flexible year round benefit it offers.
"A big selling point, you can work four, 10 hour days so Monday through Thursday, the shifts are obviously first or second shift, you have that option to choose what you prefer, and then again mandatory Fridays if you want to enroll in those, you can have the extra overtime on Friday as well," Phillips explained.
Mexican-born Liliana Gutierrez says she likes that perk and is grateful for her job as a maintenance technician. She is the first and only woman hired in her position, and believes with the company's support, she can fulfill her American Dream.
"The laser, that’s new equipment and I never worked with that type of equipment before, something that I’ve been learning with the company, helps me to move forward, that helps me with my career," Gutierrez said.
Meanwhile, the company is all about offering technical advancement to its diverse staff, as it encourages all skill levels to apply.
"I'm really happy for the opportunities that it provides so someone could start as an assembler, we have local opportunities they can move into a welding position there's tuition reimbursement so they can, if they want to become an engineer one day they could be a part and grow with us as we grow as a company," Kunkle said.
Kunkle says what drives her team forward, a common mission in the pandemic.
"It's an honor to be able to help people around the nation, not just in our communities but east to west coast that transport these products to people that are in need," she added
