APPLETON, Wis.— A new app that's exclusive to the state of Wisconsin rolled out this past week.

It’s geared towards those in law enforcement.

It's the latest tool available to help police and law enforcement officers across Wisconsin deal with both the physical and mental toll their job can have on them. The Wisconsin Law Enforcement Guardians app is free to all law enforcement officers across the state of Wisconsin.

There are more than 10,000 law enforcement officers across the state of Wisconsin and this app is designed just for them.

“If we can save just one life with this app then it’s all worth it,” Appleton police department chief Todd Thomas says.

The Wisconsin Law Enforcement Guardians app is created by law enforcement, for law enforcement.

It’s packed with resources for mental health and well being.

“A vast majority of them don’t have access to resources, a vast majority don’t have access to a peer support team so what this does it give them those resources in the palm of their hand,” Thomas says.

The app has resources for immediate help, peer support across the state, nutrition, sleep and really anything else officers may need assistance with to keep up with their mental and physical health.

“When an officer is in crisis we want to get them resources fast. As an officer knowing that is is at your fingers tips, it's one click away, it's an app you already have on your phone, it’s more likely that you are going to go for it and search within that app and not asking for help and talking about something that is bothering you,” Appleton police department public information officer, Meghan Cash says.

The app is created by a UW-Oshkosh police captain and countless resources and information are filled by the law enforcement death response team. They hope to save lives and reach out to officers in need.
