MILWAUKEE— Seven people are in stable condition after being shot at a funeral home near 42nd and Fon du Lac, on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
A funeral was taking place when the shooting happened at the Serenity Funeral Home.
Mayor Tom Barrett says someone opened fire from a car as people were getting ready to enter the building. The seven victims are between the ages of 24 and 48.
“It is the insanity of people solving their problems with guns. Just completely insane and we are seeing way too much of that in this community this year," he says.
The shooter has not been identified.
“Our prayers are with the victims and their family members during this terrible time," acting Milwaukee police department chief Michael Brunson says. "This brazen act that was done in broad daylight is just unacceptable in our city.”
Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call the Milwaukee police department or Crimestoppers.
